Running Pace Calculator
Solve for pace, time, or distance — and split it out.
How pace, time and distance relate
These three numbers are locked together by one simple relationship: pace = time ÷ distance, and speed = distance ÷ time. Give the calculator any two of them and it solves for the third. Choose what you want to find with the Solve for selector, then fill in the other two boxes.
Reading your splits
The splits table shows the cumulative clock time you should hit at each whole kilometre and each whole mile if you hold an even pace for the whole distance. It is the quickest way to sanity-check a goal time against the markers you will actually pass on race day.
Pace units
Pace is shown per the distance unit you selected — minutes per kilometre when you choose km, minutes per mile when you choose miles. Switching the unit re-expresses the same effort, it does not change how fast you are running.
Questions
How do I use it?
Enter any two of the three fields — pace, time, or distance — and the calculator solves for the missing one. Switch units between km and miles at any time.
What pace do I need for a sub-4 marathon?
A sub-4:00 marathon is 42.195 km at about 5:41 per km (9:09 per mile). Enter a 4:00:00 time and the marathon distance to see the exact pace and your per-km splits.
Does it show splits?
Yes. Once a pace is set, the tool lists cumulative split times at each km and each mile so you can build a pacing band for race day.
